COURSE INAUGURATION AND ORIENTATION 2022-24

 

Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud hosted the course inauguration and a two-day orientation event for first-semester B.Ed students on October 27 and 28. The B.Ed 2022-24 batch officially began on September 12, 2022.

The program's formal launch took place at the UGC hall on Day 1. Dr. Jayaprakash R. K., Director of SCERT, Kerala, was the day's special guest. Dr. Issac Paul, an assistant professor in the department of commerce, and Dr. Jayakrishna K, an assistant professor in the department of hindi, oversaw the coordination of the programme. Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar, the principal of GCTE, served as the program's general convenor.
Ms. Parvathy S offered the invocation to open the inaugural session. Dr. Jayakrishna, the academic coordinator for the B.Ed. programme, gave the opening remarks. Principal Santhosh Kumar sir then gave the presidential address. He discussed the opportunities and shared his thoughts on the New Educational Policy. Additionally, he alluded to the lack of places at B.Ed. institutions. Dr. Jayaprakash sir began his inauguration talk by thanking the students for joining the GCTE family and selecting the teaching profession. He emphasised the divinity and dignity connected to the teaching profession while emphasising the benefits of the course, such as the development of capacities to meet future issues, the capacity to build a scientific temper, and the entire growth of pupils.In order to close the gap, he also emphasised the significance of technology-focused classrooms and the innovative strategies and adjustments teachers should make. Principal showed our devotion by giving the primary visitor a memento and a present. The felicitation was given by vice principal Dr. Joly S and IQAC coordinator Sri Rahul V R, and first-year B.A. A student in education offered a thank-you and some thoughts on the lesson.
There are four seminars on the first day of orientation. Sri Rahul VR delivered the first session on "Teacher Preparedness in Psychological Perspective." He emphasised the need of updating our knowledge to meet the demands and expectations of the modern world as well as the necessity of connecting information to society for improved teaching and learning. A teacher should grow holistically and not only focus on teaching one particular topic, he continued. Ms. Keerthana Anil offered the vote of gratitude.

Ms. Sheena Elizabeth Varghese led the second session on "Pedagogy and the Teacher," and Ms. Maria George welcomed her to the podium. Sheena Ma'am taught us about Herbatian stages, explored the etymology of the word "pedagogy," and prompted us to consider the role of pedagogy in adult education. Ms. Bhagya Murali gave the vote of thanks and a reflection on the meeting.

Dr. Anju was welcomed to the stage for the third session on "Teacher Commitment" by Ms. Jennifa. Anju ma'am urged us to act as scaffolders in the classroom, encouraging the kids to freely and honestly express their own experiences and thoughts. She discusses the traits that need be acquired, notably intellectual empathy, in order to become a successful teacher. Beyond just being a teacher, the instructor exemplified what a decent person should be. For many students, this lesson was emotionally taxing since it brought up a lot of memories. Ms. Sruthi GS gave a reflection on the presentation and delivered the vote of gratitude. 

Ms. Gayatri Mahima welcomed Ms. Shiba T.C to lead the fourth and final session of Day 1.The "Reflective Practices in Teacher Education Program" was the topic of the session. Ms. Devika P.S. offered a reflection and a vote of gratitude.

Day 2 included five sessions total. Dr. Joly began the first session of the Day 2 orientation programme after being greeted by Ms. Parvathy S. The presentation by Joly Ma'am on "Communication and Teacher" was intriguing. She explained how teachers should engage with their students, giving examples of the dos and don'ts of good teaching techniques. Ms. Sibana gave a reflection on the meeting and offered a vote of gratitude.

Dr. Jayakrishna K was invited by Ms. Revathy BR to speak on "Educational Technology in Teacher Education Program" at the following session. The technology room served as the venue for this meeting. The intricacies of a techno pedagogue, technological pedagogical content knowledge, and virtual classroom software were introduced to us by Jayakrishna Ma'am. She forced us to take a Kahoot quiz online. Veena Thankarajan gave a reflection and a vote of gratitude.

Under the direction of Dr. Rajashree, who was greeted by Ms. Sruthi, the third session of the Day 2 orientation programme was held. The speaker emphasised on the classroom atmosphere, infrastructure, and learner engagement activities when discussing the topic of "Classroom Management Practices in Teacher Education Program." Mr. Rakesh Mohan's reflection and vote of gratitude brought the meeting to a close.

Ms. Rakendu R welcomed Sri Roshkumar BS, the resource person for the session on "Physical and Health Education in Teacher Education Program." Roshkumar sir had given us a better understanding of the Physical Education syllabus for B.Ed. and stressed the importance of regular exercise to prevent the early onset of lifestyle diseases. The task of summarising the meeting and offering the vote of appreciation was taken up by Ms. Jessy M.

Dr. Issac Paul shared his perspectives on "Teacher Competencies and Skills" with us at the concluding session, which was hosted by Mr. Amal Muhammed K. The speaker covered the many aptitudes, competences, and skills needed by educators to ensure the success of the teaching-learning process. Mr. Ajmal Roshan gave a perspective and expressed gratitude.

Dr. Jayakrishna K led the final session of the orientation programme after Ms. Kavya Dinesh had welcomed him to the podium for the course briefing. Jayakrishna Ma'am provided us an overview of the B.Ed. programme, as well as advice on how to approach it from the standpoint of the exams. Bushra Ansari delivered the meditation and expression of gratitude.

All of the sessions were engaging and stimulating, and they sparked and enlightened our brains with fresh ideas and provided us with a clear understanding of the curriculum and syllabus.
