Christmas is a time for giving. Without giving, there can be
no real Christmas, and without sacrifice, there can be no true worship. The
father gave his son, the son offered his life. The holiday of Christmas is one
of joy, hope, and love. Jesus was born on this day. Christmas is a time to
consider the value of friendship, family, and faith. Christmas is in the air
because it is in everyone's hearts. Government College of Teacher Education
hosted Jolly Hollies 2022, a Christmas party, on December 22 in the UGC Hall as
part of this commemoration. The invocation was delivered by Ms. Maria George
after Ms. Jessy, who served as the program's anchor. Ms. Sandya performed the
essential function of welcoming, which marks the beginning of every programme
and each event.
The program's principal and general convenor, Dr. V. K.
Santhosh Kumar, gave the presidential speech. He recalled a few
Christmas-related experiences and wished all the teachers, non-teachers, and
student teachers a joyful Christmas and a happy 2023 in the future. Rev. Fr.
Sunil was the day's main visitor. The ceremonial candle was lit by M. John,
Vicar of Salem Marthoma Church in Vazhutacaud, who also gave the Jolly Hollies
2022 its formal start. The primary guest then gave the inaugural speech,
including the concepts of love, friendship, sacrifice, and purity. He sent out
his best wishes for a pleasant Christmas and New Year.
The depiction of the Christmas crib or Scene of the Nativity
is a nearly a thousand-year-old custom. St. Francis made the decision to
observe the Christmas feast in a novel manner in the year 1223. His mission was
to aid in the better recall of the impoverished circumstances in which Jesus
was born and to enable the populace of the time better understand the amazing
occurrence of the incarnation. With the assistance of a local landowner, a
nativity scene complete with a stable, animals, and straw was erected in the
town of Greccio. The GCTE first-semester B.Ed. students decorated our college's
Christmas crib. A monk by the name of Saint Nicolas is credited with starting
the Santa Claus fable hundreds of years ago. He is said to reside at the north
pole with his wife, where he spends the entire year creating toys for kids.
From there, he gets letters from kids requesting for Christmas presents. On
Christmas Eve, he fills his sleigh with toys and takes off throughout the globe
while being pulled by 8 reindeer. The GCTE Santa Clauses arrived with a bag
full of gifts after the welcome speech, distributed them to everyone, and then
had a spirited dance performance in front of us. Ms. Kavya Sagar's performance
as the GCTE Santa Claus won over everyone's hearts, and thunderous applause
filled the auditorium. Plum porridge served as the precursor of Christmas cake
in England. Today's Christmas cakes serve as a symbol of the holiday
celebration. The cutting of the Christmas cake by the primary guest Fr. Sunil,
our principal, and Santa Claus unfurled the pleasure, love, and joy of the
season and that of Jolly Hollies 2022. Fr. Sunil received a memento of our
affection from the principal, Dr. V.K. Santhosh Kumar.
Dr. Joly. S, GCTE's vice principal, Dr. Issac Paul, a department of commerce associate professor, Manoj Kumar, GCTE's superintendent, Mr. Praveen Kumar, the college union chairman, Mr. Vishnu. G, an M.Ed. student, and Ms. Smitha G Nair, a research scholar, all gave congratulatory remarks. The vote of gratitude was given by Ms. Sibana, who also concluded the official event.
Then, many cultural programmes, activities, and events were held. The first-semester B.Ed. students showcased their ability by dancing and singing holiday music. The M.Ed. students also wowed the audience with their amazing dancing. The college union scheduled a number of games in the afternoon. Following that, Maria directed the first-semester B.Ed. students as they staged a nativity play.
The treasure hunt put an ultimate cap on the pleasure and
delight of the day. It was arranged by college union members. At five o'clock
in the evening, the show ended.
