PATHWAY-SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS PROGRAMME



 DAY 1 - (JANUARY 17TH)


The Government of Kerala and the Department of Minority Welfare jointly organized a three-day conference at GCTE, Thycaud on the subject of "PATHWAY-SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS PROGRAMME." The seminar was held at the General Hall on January 17, 18, and 19, 2023. The seminar was divided into two sections each day: morning and afternoon.




The first day's programme began with a prayer, then Dr. Issac Paul, an associate professor in the department of commerce, gave a welcoming address. The Principal, Dr. V.K. Santhosh Kumar, then gave the presidential speech. In his address, he discussed the most recent life habits that boys and girls were adopting, along with their benefits and drawbacks. The programme is then officially launched by Sri. G. Madhavadas, Ward Counsellor, Thycaud. He delivered a lecture about the way society perceives marriage and how the climate is changing. He made a comparison between conventional and contemporary marital expectations. Later, Dr. Jayakrishna K, an assistant professor in the department of Hindi, presented the congratulations.She emphasised the importance of the subject, and Asha Teacher, the programme coordinator, gave the vote of appreciation.

Session 1

MARRIAGE FOR SOCIAL WELLNESS


The first session, which focused on "marriage for wellbeing," was guided by Trivandrum-based life skills trainer and research consultant Dr. Joju John. Additionally, he teaches technology as an assistant professor at Mar Theophilos B.Ed. Training College in Nalanchira. The class was incredibly lively and entertaining. He emphasised the importance of our initiatives to promote right brain development. We are well known that school days naturally hone the left side of the brain. But significant efforts are required if the right brain is to grow. He emphasised the importance of family, particularly parents and extended relatives. He shared many of his own experiences with us, which sparked our curiosity and got us debating. He is in favour of the established, close-knit family structure where the parents and children live together..He shared his power point presentation with us at the conclusion.


Session 2 

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR COUPLES


The afternoon session was run by Rafeeq Sir. He spoke about "Healthy online communications and effective communication skills for couples." He also emphasised the importance of marriage and the need for open communication in it. Some of the students voiced their disagreement with the resource person's thoughts. The session was over at 4:15 PM.


DAY 2 (JANUARY 18TH)


Session 3

EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF RELATIONSHIPS


The resource person, Bindu Philip, was welcomed by the Asha instructor on the third day following the prayer by Parvathy of first B.Ed. The third session started at 9.45 AM and was entirely interactive and focused on building a happy family. Effective management of in-law relationships and dispute resolution methods was the subject. It was a really interactive workshop. She divided the students into ten groups to discuss various family problems and how to solve them. Each team was required to submit two disputes and their solutions. Expectations, ego clashes, domineering partner behaviour, external influences, etc. all contributed to some confrontations. Communication, understanding, etc., were frequent solutions that emerged. People need to be able to make decisions, solve issues, manage their finances, respect and understand  others.


Session 4

SEX EDUCATION AND PREGNANCY



The afternoon class was conducted by Ms. Deepa, and it focused on "Infant-Adolescent Parenting Skills, Sex Education, and Pregnancy." The talk was quite instructive. She was quite clear in her explanations of parenting, sex education, and adolescence. She gave an explanation of the various parenting philosophies. Authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and uninvolved parenting styles are the four varieties. She also went into great length on the physical and behavioural changes that both males and girls experience during the adolescent stage. She required the pupils to do an engaging task. The meeting ended at 4:15 p.m.


DAY 3 (JANUARY 19TH)


Session 5

LEGAL AND RELIGIOUS ASPECTS OF MARRIAGE


Adv. Thomas, a resource person, led the fifth and first session of the last day. "Legal and theological issues of marriage" was his topic. He provided definitions for the terms marriage and its legal features, as well as the importance of marriage registration and marital behaviours. Some topics were the focus of discussions between students and the resource person. He also talked about the laws governing Hindu adoption, maintenance, and divorce. At 12:20, the meeting came to an end.


Session 6

FAMILY BUDGETING 


The afternoon session was presided over by Anwar sir, the principal of the College of Teacher Education in Kudamaloor, and it focused on "Family budgeting." He discussed several types of costs as well as how to make a decent family budget. He suggested that we set aside 20% of our income for savings, 30% for immediate needs, and 50% for fixed bills. When the resource person discussed the clothing code to be followed at B.Ed institutions, there were initially some type of opinion differences between him and the students. However, Anju teacher's involvement helped to smooth things out. The show concluded at 4:15 PM.
