COMMUNITY SERVICE

 

As part of SUPW mentioned in the curriculum a social service or community work had to be done by the B.Ed. students. Our class was divided into several groups and were assigned the task of watering the vegetable garden in Government Model LP School, Thycaud. Our class have been divided into 8 groups where each group consists of 9 members. I was allotted in the 5th group and my group was instructed to watering the plants on 20th Mar 2023. It was memorable and inspiring moment for us. in that school, variety of vegetables where planted. We were able to taste some fresh vegetables. In our current scenario, we buy the products which contains chemicals. But the organic one is always special. Having a vegetable garden in the school will motivate the students to plant the vegetables in their home. The effort made by the school is appreciable.

On 20th Mar 2023, our group i.e., 5th group was allotted for watering the plants. In previous groups consist of 9 members each. In our group there was ten members including me. Themembers were Jessy M,Devika M,Veena,Kavya Dinesh,Vignesh,Gayathri,Gowry,Aarsha,Chinju and me. We reached the garden by 3 pm and was astonish to see various vegetables maintainedin that school. There was cucumber, tomato, leaf vegetables, peas, cabbage etc. the garden was maintained in correct manner and we were able to see fresh vegetables. After our arrival, we started to take the pump for watering the plants and for areas where the pump was not available, we used the bucket and watered the plants.

It was a memorable moment as we got to water the plants. We were doing the duty not because of the duty assigned but we all enjoyed watering the plants. We assigned each area for each person and watered the plants. It was an enjoyable moment for me. Even we become tired by watering the plants, we were very happy to do the work. This had inspired us to make this possible in our home. Organic farming is very important in our current scenario. Encouraging the organic farming among the students from their primary school will have a bigger impact on them. After watering the plants, we left the school by 4:30 pm.
